NAM Control · 2026-08-15
This page applies to the current public version of NAM Control. We handle personal information confidentially and in accordance with applicable data-protection law.

1. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy applies to NAM Control and its companion functions for compatible WHD audio devices. The data controller is Wilhelm Huber + Söhne GmbH + Co. KG ("we", "us"). Contact: info@whd.de. Address: Wilhelmstraße 20-5, D-78652 Deisslingen, Germany.

The app primarily works between your phone and a device that you select. Except for the catalog, radio, artwork and geocoding requests described below, we do not operate an account system, advertising platform or cloud-sync service.

2. What this version does not process

This version does not require registration or login and has no social community, user-posting, payment, subscription or membership feature. We do not include advertising, cross-app tracking, behavioral analytics, crash reporting or push-notification services, and we do not build an advertising or profiling record about you.

3. Information handled and purposes

InformationPurpose and processing locationRetention
Bluetooth device names, identifiers and connection stateTo discover, connect to and configure nearby compatible WHD audio devices. Processing uses the operating-system Bluetooth interface and data is sent to the device you select at your direction.Device records and settings stay on the phone; data copied to hardware is retained by that hardware.
Wi-Fi name (SSID) and Wi-Fi password you enterTo configure networking on the selected device. The information is sent over Bluetooth or the local network to that device and is not uploaded to our server. The app uses it only for configuration; the device may retain it under its own rules.
Pairing PIN, device name and other settingsTo authenticate connections and change device settings, volume, alarms, network and playback parameters.Stored locally or on the selected device until you remove the record, reset the device or uninstall the app.
Audio files you actively selectThe system file picker gives the app the selected file, which may be played locally or transferred to the selected device after your confirmation. The app does not scan your photo library or other files. Copies on hardware must be removed through that hardware.
Station names, stream URLs, artwork URLs and favoritesTo save, display, preview and send radio configuration. Playback and artwork requests go directly to the relevant providers.Favorites and settings remain on the phone or selected device.
Location or regional information for country recommendationsWhen you ask for a recommendation, foreground approximate or precise location may be used with system geocoding to obtain an ISO country code. Device language/region or an Android carrier/SIM country may be used as a fallback. The app does not create a location history. Coordinates are not used for advertising or tracking.
Network technical data and catalog authentication identifierWhen you use the Internet radio directory, the app sends a protected identifier derived from the selected device to authenticate catalog access. Directory, system geocoding, radio-stream and artwork providers may also receive your IP address, request time, technical headers and requested catalog, station or country/region data. The relevant provider controls retention under its own policy and applicable law.

4. Permissions

Bluetooth and nearby-device permissions discover, connect to and configure hardware. Android 11 and earlier may require location permission for Bluetooth scanning. Network access supports the catalog, streams and local-device communication. iOS Local Network access controls the device and transfers audio. Foreground location is used only when you request a country recommendation. The system file picker lets you select audio without photo-library access.

You may deny or later disable optional permissions. The related function may stop working, while unrelated functions remain available.

5. Sharing, processors and disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information or provide it to advertising partners. At your direction, settings and files are sent to the hardware you select. When you use Internet radio directory, geocoding, radio stream or artwork services, requests go to the relevant third party, which acts independently and has its own privacy policy.

Except where required by law or needed to protect security or resolve a dispute, we do not publicly disclose local settings. We do not upload Wi-Fi passwords, device PINs or local audio to a developer-operated cloud.

6. Retention, deletion and security

Local records generally remain until you remove them in the app, clear app data or uninstall the app. Copies transferred to hardware must be deleted through the hardware. You can disable location, Bluetooth or network permissions at any time. We use operating-system access controls, application storage isolation and available encrypted connections. Some compatible devices may nevertheless use unencrypted HTTP for local-network upload or login endpoints; use these functions only on a trusted local network. We cannot guarantee the security of Bluetooth, local networks, HTTP radio streams or third-party servers.

If you contact us by email, we retain the contact details and message content you provide to handle your request until you ask us to delete it, withdraw consent or the purpose no longer applies. Statutory retention duties and retention needed for legal claims remain unaffected. Internet and email transmission cannot be guaranteed completely secure.

7. International processing

Internet radio directory, geocoding, radio-stream and artwork providers may process network requests outside your country. The relevant provider determines recipients, locations and retention. Where required, we use appropriate contracts, transfer mechanisms or other safeguards.

8. Your rights

Contact info@whd.de to request access, correction or deletion of information we actually control, or restriction of its processing. Subject to applicable law, you may also request data portability and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Where processing relies on Article 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR, you have the right to object on grounds relating to your particular situation; the right to object to direct marketing is unrestricted. Users in the European Union, European Economic Area or United Kingdom may also complain to the competent data-protection authority in their habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement.

There is no account in this version, so device and favorite records are mainly managed directly by you. We may verify your identity and connection to a request for security. Information required by law may be retained for the required period and not used for other purposes.

9. Children

NAM Control is a general-purpose device companion and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information. A parent or guardian may contact info@whd.de with a concern.
